Recreating a 70-year love story frame by frame

The team restored black-and-white photos with generative models and mapped the couple's present-day subtle expressions and vocal pauses onto their younger likenesses. Ethel actively co-directed details like the curve of a staircase or the shape of a shoe heel, and the team describes the AI as a tool guided by human hands.

Google now lets users remove the visible watermark on AI content, keeps invisible SynthID
Google changed its policy on August 14 to let users selectively remove the visible watermark shown on AI-generated images, video, and music. It applies to the Nano Banana (image), Omni (video), and Lyria (music) models, rolling out first in Gemini and Flow before expanding to Google Search. The invisible SynthID watermark and C2PA metadata remain intact regardless, so the underlying ability to trace AI-generated content isn't going away.

You can now turn off Google Gemini's visible watermarks
Google added a new "media watermark" toggle to Gemini and its Flow video generator that lets users remove the visible "sparkle" mark that appears on AI-generated images, video, and music. Turning it off doesn't touch the invisible SynthID and C2PA watermarks, which stay embedded so software can still verify a file's AI origin.
