Enigma raises $71M to make controlling a robot as easy as adjusting the volume

Robotics startup Enigma raised a $71 million seed round led by Index Ventures and Ribbit Capital, with participation from Sarah Guo's Conviction Partners. Co-founded by Jonathan Jacobi — once Microsoft's youngest employee — and Gal Niv, both from Israel's cybersecurity scene, the company builds its own robotic arms and AI models and runs more than 100 proprietary robots out of hangars in Israel and California.

Hyundai claims humanoid robot plan is not part of talks with striking workers
현대차그룹 노조원 약 3만 4천 명이 3일간 순환 파업을 벌였다. 업계에서는 휴머노이드 로봇 배치 계획이 명시적 도화선이 된 최초의 자동차 공장 파업으로 보고 있다. 회사는 Atlas 휴머노이드 로봇 25,000대 이상을 현대차·기아 공장에 배치할 계획이며, 2028년 조지아주 메타플랜트를 시작으로 확대할 예정이다. 그런데도 사측은 로봇 배치 계획이 파업 노동자와의 협상 대상이 아니라고 선을 그었다. 노조는 로봇 문제 외에도 시급제의 고정급 전환, 정년 60세에서 65세로 연장, 자동화에 따른 이익분배 보너스 확대 등을 요구하고 있다. About 34,000 Hyundai Motor Group union members staged a three-day rolling strike, which the industry is calling the first auto-plant strike explicitly triggered by a humanoid-robot deployment plan. The company plans to deploy more than 25,000 Atlas humanoid robots across Hyundai and Kia plants, starting with the Georgia Metaplant in 2028. Management nonetheless drew a line, saying the robot rollout is not up for negotiation with striking workers. Beyond the robot issue, the union is also demanding a shift from hourly to fixed pay, raising the retirement age from 60 to 65, and expanding profit-sharing bonuses tied to automation.
